Terms of Service
StudyBuddies provides learning support, planning tools, and AI study buddies. These terms are designed to keep the service safe, honest, and focused on learning.
1. Agreement
By creating an account or using StudyBuddies, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you are a minor and local law requires guardian permission, you represent that you have obtained it.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use StudyBuddies. The service is not directed to children under 13. You must provide accurate account information, keep your password private, and notify us if you believe your account is compromised.
3. Educational purpose and academic integrity
StudyBuddies is a learning aid, not a homework-completion, cheating, tutoring-certification, emergency, medical, legal, or professional service. You agree not to use it to:
- Obtain or submit answers for a live test, quiz, or graded assignment in violation of school rules.
- Present AI-generated work as your own when disclosure or original work is required.
- Evade plagiarism, AI-use, proctoring, or academic-integrity systems.
- Fabricate sources, quotations, evidence, experiments, or citations.
Students remain responsible for understanding their work and following school and teacher policies.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use StudyBuddies to break the law; harm, threaten, exploit, or harass others; share sexual content involving minors; distribute malware; bypass security or rate limits; scrape or overload the service; impersonate others; violate privacy or intellectual-property rights; or upload content you do not have permission to use.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of content you provide. You grant StudyBuddies a limited permission to host, copy, process, and transmit that content only as needed to provide, maintain, and secure the user-facing service you request. You represent that you have the rights needed to provide the content. You can remove content using the application’s deletion controls.
6. Google Drive
Drive connection is optional. StudyBuddies uses Google Picker and the drive.file scope so that you select individual files. You authorize StudyBuddies to read the selected file, extract text, create material and assignment suggestions, store confirmed imports, and—when you ask a study buddy—send relevant imported text for AI processing as described in the Privacy Policy. Disconnecting Drive prevents future access but does not automatically delete text you already imported.
7. AI limitations
AI responses may be incomplete, biased, outdated, or wrong. StudyBuddies may refuse unsafe or academically dishonest requests. Do not rely on AI output as the sole source for important decisions. Verify dates, facts, calculations, citations, and assignment requirements with authoritative sources.
8. Availability, credits, and changes
The early-stage service is offered on an as-available basis. Free credits, rate limits, models, features, and availability may change. Third-party free tiers may interrupt or limit AI and Drive functions. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features and will try to provide reasonable notice of material changes when practical.
9. Third-party services
Supabase, Vercel, GitHub, AI model providers, and Google provide parts of the service. Their terms may apply to their respective services. StudyBuddies is not sponsored, endorsed, or operated by a school, Google, GitHub, Supabase, Vercel, or an AI model provider.
10. Suspension and termination
We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, address abuse, enforce these Terms, or protect the service. You may stop using StudyBuddies at any time and permanently delete your account in Settings.
11. Disclaimers and responsibility
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StudyBuddies is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted operation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, StudyBuddies and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the service. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so these limitations may not fully apply.
12. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms as the service changes. Continued use after an updated effective date means you accept the revised Terms, except where law requires additional notice or consent. Questions may be sent to studybuddiesai@gmail.com.
